Our Foundation

Last year, the Providence Saint John Foundation provided more than $30 million in uncompensated care ― a level matched by very few institutions in the area.
The foundation was established in 1995 to support the needs of the patients in the communities of Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties. Our mission is to secure, manage and distribute gifts that support the medical institutions and the health needs of the communities we serve with a special concern for those most vulnerable.
The cost of funding healthcare continues to increase while payments from the federal government and private insurers continue to decrease. To offer excellence in patient care, we must turn to the philanthropic community to fund patient needs, healthcare programs, education and technology not covered by patient fees.
Providence Saint John Foundation allows us to reach a large number of patients, with varying needs. Your support helps us accomplish remarkable outcomes every day. Your gifts help:
- Care for cancer patients
- Provide treatment for diabetics
- Make life better for older adults
- Bring new surgical procedures and technology to patients
- Expand services to the communities we serve
- Bring hope to those who need help
Our Funding Priorities
- Chronic Disease Management. Our patient population has the highest incidence of chronic diseases ― such as congestive heart disease, diabetes, liver failure and anticoagulation disorders ― in the metropolitan area.
- Cardiac Care. Our population is also at high risk for heart disease, so we focus on the diagnosis, treatment, education and rehabilitation of cardiac patients.
- Sustaining Quality. We must insure that we develop new program to respond to changing health needs, update our equipment and provide the kind of environment that attracts the most competent personnel.
- Ensuring Access. To reach underserved populations, our community outreach programs are located in areas where they are most accessible to those in need.
