Going the Distance
Our medical librarian, Sarah Kirby, goes to great lengths to make sure library visitors get not only the information they want, but get to the services they need.

A women whose husband had been put on a special diet for his kidney disease came in for information. Kirby got a nutritionist to come to the library to talk to the woman and gave her a list of foods to avoid.

One woman asked for information on an illness and then mentioned she was looking for low-cost mammograms. Kirby helped her determine she was eligible for free mammograms, then led the woman to the Radiology department and got her scheduled on the spot.

And even those who wander in by accident often find a willing escort to where they want to go.
