Amber Botros, D.O., and Nicholas Brockert, M.D., have recently joined the Saint John Hospital Medical Staff, and the practice of Flanner & McBratney, M.D.s, P.A., 1004 Progress Drive, Suite 200, Lansing, Kan. Both physicians practice family medicine, including obstetrics, and are accepting new patients.

Amber Botros, D.O.—Dr. Botros is excited about practicing medicine in the Leavenworth and Lansing communities. “This is a wonderful opportunity to practice full-spectrum family medicine,” Dr. Botros says. “I enjoy the variety of patients I see here. Every day is different.”

Dr. Botros has a special interest in women’s health concerns, including obstetrics, and utilizes the Saint John Hospital Women’s Center for deliveries. She also is interested in pediatric care and adolescent medicine.

Dr. Botros recently completed her residency in family medicine with Research Family Medicine, Kansas City, Mo. She received her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, Kansas City, Mo.

“Osteopathic physicians receive the same basic training as allopathic (M.D.) doctors, studying medicine for four years,” Dr. Botros explains. “The main difference between osteopathic doctors and allopathic doctors is the philosophy of care.”

Dr. Botros is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association and the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians.

A native of Topeka, Kan., she received undergraduate degrees in science and music from Washburn University, Topeka, Kan. Dr. Botros is in the process of relocating to the Leavenworth/Lansing area.

Nicholas Brockert, M.D.—Dr. Brockert also recently began practicing family medicine in the Leavenworth and Lansing area. “My goal when I decided to become a physician was to practice in this community,” Dr. Brockert says. “I have spent the past several years living and working in Leavenworth, and I really enjoy the hometown atmosphere here. This is a great place to practice family medicine.”

Dr. Brockert has a special interest in disease prevention and healthy diet. He also practices obstetrics and delivers babies at the Saint John Hospital Women’s Center. He recently completed his residency in family medicine with Research Family Medicine, Kansas City, Mo.

Dr. Brockert received his medical degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., and his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Before enrolling in medical school, he coached baseball at the University of Saint Mary, Leavenworth, for two years; and coached football at Immaculata High School, also in Leavenworth.

Dr. Brockert volunteered at Saint John Hospital in the Senior Behavioral Health Center. He also served as a teen volunteer at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kan., and volunteered in the Pathology department at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie.

Dr. Brockert is a member of the American Medical Association, the Missouri State Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Originally from Holton, Kan., he now lives in Basehor, Kan. with his wife, Leslie.
